Lowered My 95-ride Is Crappy!!!!!
OK-I put on OBX coilovers and now the ride is terrible! It's bouncy and when you hit little potholes or dips it makes this loud noise, like it's bottoming out. Could it be possible that they gave me the wrong kit? Anyone had this problem before? If so-let me know what you did to fix it. What do you think about buying shortened struts? Would they help?

^ what he said.
I wouldnt put anything made by OBX on my car, let alone suspension components. Also, are you on stock struts? If so, even ground controls would ride and handle like crap. Throw some illuminas on there, and if you want a low drop, get Sprints, otherwise get H&Rs.

Sounds like you are on the stock struts, correct? Yeah.. well, that's the problem right there. Either get some KYB AGX's or some Tokico Illuminas, and that should more or less take care of your problems. Coilovers are notorious for making a lot of noise, so there isn't much you can do in that sense. You might want to switch them out for some Tein S-Tech springs or Sprints.

I believe coil springs dictate ride height (lowered or stock), but struts dictate how your car rides (dampening). Both makes up the car's suspension, plus control arms. Lowering coil springs alone won't cut it, all it'll do is lower your ride height outside the dampening characteristics of your oem struts. In addition, your stock struts will not last as long as it was designed to. In order to correct the feel of the ride, making it as comfortable as possible, you'll need lowering or ajustable struts. There's really no way around that. That's why personally, I will make sure I've saved enough money for a set of lowering springs and struts, then buy them all at once and install them.

If you're on stock struts, that's definitely at least 3/4 of the problem. Aftermarket springs + stock struts = trouble.
If you really wanted ride quality H&R/AGX is the way to go. The ride is harsher, but not MUCh harsher, and the car handles like it's on rails. I have never felt like I would even want to try any other combo.

Anyways, here in HI I don't have that much choice. There's not many people that are into Maximas-mostly Hondas, Acura etc. A lot of stores have discontinued selling aftermarket parts because of slow sales-otherwise selection is rather limited. How's the ride w/Sprint spring and adjustable struts? Let me know-MAHALO!!
What else would their rep say?

I have been riding on stock struts for 6K and nothing wrong so far. I'm not saying that the handling is great I just figure I might as well get the use out of 'em. And I got news for you buddy, your in the same boat as the 95% of us when it comes to local aftermarket support/tunning for Maxima's. The other 5% are lucky to live close to SWA, Budget, Maximum Tunning and all the others. I know the feeling. There are only two other members on the .org in Madison and less than 75 in Wisconsin. The place I just dynoed at had only dynoed one other Max and it was an 02. I wish I still lived in Atlanta.

they want to make their products sound good, but they count out right lie (well, unless they expect repeat buisness)
you need to look past the BS because they ARE trying to sell a product to you
