Car slower with intake

I'm thinking about buying the ingen intake tomorrow for my car. And I was dead set on it till I read in a thread that the car will pull harder with the stock box on it. Is this true. That would suck so bad.

I dunno about Injen..but when I put my PR CAI on..I noticed a big difference in sound and pull...and now it's even better with my full exhaust

Intakes cause loss of power in low RPM's but make it up at high RPM's (racing)

If your an every day driver I suggest you modify your stock intake and leave the OEM filter housing in place. You can simply open up the resonator box under the battery for better breathing. The intake on our cars is actually pretty good until you hit the scoup section. Thats where the biggest restriction is. Open up the intake just a little bit by providing another source of air for it and you get a nice custom intake that nobody will detect. No noise, no lag in low RPM's just a lil more performance at WOT.

Follow the elbow that branched off just before the scoup down under the bettery tray. You can remove that box by taking out two 10mm bolts. Open that box up by drilling the back side (side that faces the fender wall) with a one inch drill bit. Make swiss cheese out of it. That will give you more then enough air for the stock intake to breathe better.

njmaxseltd, got any pics of this? I have been wanting to do the mod I have heard people talking about, but I don't want that much noise. Does the swiss cheese thing keep the noise down? Others suggest just cutting a large portion out of the box(bottom or side.).

U can get a PR CAI lookalike on ebay for under $50, i dont know but was there tests to see which intake makes more power, if there is that much power. We all know the bends in the CAI makes less HP up top, the injen has more bends than the PR style...This would make the PR style better up top than Injen??Something for u injen guys to think about

I have the PR CAI knockoff by BOMZ, I got it for $38 on Ebay, it came polished and everything..I can tell you there's definantly more torque in the low end. In the high rpm's its about the same as it was when I had my midpipe. With the midpipe, it would perform good until the engine warms up, then all it's doing is sucking up hot air from inside the engine bay...

I actually completely took off the bottom part of the stock air box and replaced the filter with a K&N drop in panel and held it with black ZIP-TIES. I tried my best to hide the ties and I can honestly say that I should be getting alot of air, I mean why not?

Nope sorry...just imagine it...

No lower half of air box with the panel filter held tightly to the upper half with "hidden" black zip-ties...I don't have a digital camera...sorry..

But hey can anyone disagree on the air supply coming into my engine?
