Thermostat Question ?? Cold Winter...

Do thermostats get "tired" ??

128K miles on my max and I believe its the original thermostat...during the cold mornings (0-10 degrees here in NJ) it takes a little bit more time than it ususally does like say on a 30 degree morning to get heat threw the cabin. On a not so cold morning its not as bad. After I drive lets say 10 miles, the heat is cranking out of the vents. I was really wondering if i should replace the thermostat ?? Im just wondering if they get "tired" in a way ?

BTW i have the autp climate control

Do you get to normal operating temp? If so, then urs is fine.

as to my knowledge, which is problaby very little, thermostats do get tired, they eventually may get stuck in open closed or some halfway position could be disasterous depending on what position it fails in (if you continue to drive) doesnt hurt to change it, i havnet done it in my maxima yet (i just bough it a few months ago) but if it takes a while for the car to warm up, its probably stuck in the open position (thats waht the haynes manual says)

Lows of -5. Try lows of -30 here. The Max still starts up fine, heat does take longer depending on outside ambient temperature.
