96 or 97 Max se Adding performance

Hey guys, I'm just getting a max and am logged into the site.. Looks good and helpfor so far..I have been running Accords ands Civics so I have a good bass knowledge on moden cars but just going to need some assistance with the Max because I want to do this one right.
Rumor has it the 96 Max's can have more mods done to them as far as performance however I like the idea of being able to get the taillights for the 97 at a better price.
But it looks like after intake, exhaust, and lowering Im going to have about $700 to spend on performace... Which is not a lot of money but I was wondering what I could get for my money. I would like to stay away from the underdrive pulleys as you wont charge as suffecent. Now i heard you cannot put a ECU in the 97 without hassels?????? And I do not want NOS... I would like a realiable car so is there any thing i can do to get her running a little faster... And what one would you buy the 97 or the 96.. Thanks a ton guys. Appreciate it... Rich

Most people tend to like the 97-99 looks more than the 95-96. With the 97-99, you can buy the red clears form custommaxima or make them yourself. On the other hand, the 95- 96 red clears are extremely hard to find and are expensive. Performance wise, you can get a y pipe, intake, B pipe, MEVI, ECU... For looks you can buy the diamond cut bumper lenses, which are pretty cheap and makes the car look a lot better.

If you are interested in what mods can be done to each, this is probably the best place to look:

Nice

Thanks guys... Im just trying to decide.... what parts to get now. i guess maybe the money would be better invest in something else for the car because I dont see much for the 97 besides what else i listed earlier that i could do for 700.
