about the MEVI

Im looking into maybe getting one of these, but i dont know hardly anything about them. Im kind of sure on how theyre used, but not positive, so could someone try to explain to me how it works? Also on the webpage to buy it ( http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...duct_Code=MEVI ) it says that i still need to buy other parts to install it, how do i know what parts i still need to get? and on http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?...ariableIntakes it says i need an "RPM switch" , how does this work?

that's like 3rd question like that for a week.
MEVI has two intake runners one is longer and other is shorter. When you hit certain RPMs, rpm switch opens up the secondary runners on MEVI and gives you more power.

no, it does not have two sets of actual runners.

OHhhh when they said switch i thought they ment like toggle switch that id have to switch after EVERY shift. So it has a long and a short runners, but how exactly does this give more power?

wait wait i THINK i get it now...so on low RPMs its like normal intake manifold, but when you hit higher RPMs the the other set of runners opens up for more intake flow????

It is basically the same design as the stock intake manifold except is has a resonance chamber built into it. If you are familiar with the concept of dynamic supercharging it utilizes this to produce power in higher RPM. One thing to note however, is it is not resonance tuned like the USIM in the midrange 3K to around 5.5K RPM and your mid-range torque will take a hit, but you will have higher torque production after 5.5k RPM.

The car will not pull any harder (it actually produces less peak torque) but it will pull for LONGER in the rev-range if that makes any sense.
