Swapping ECU'S

Swapping ECU'S

I was wondering if some memeber who have swapped ecu's could give me an idea how to. What should i do. Should i dissconnect the negitive battery cable etc ...

no one knows how to take out the ecu?

Yes, it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery first. Pop off the plastic cover over the harness connector, then use a 10mm socket to remove the harness connector from the ecu. After that it's a matter of getting in there and removing the two Phillips head screws at the front and the two in the back that hold the ecu to the mounting frame. It's a b!tch the first time because of limited access space for the back two. When you reinstall the ecu, don't worry about putting those two back in.

i switch my ecu's all the time. is disconnecting the battery necessary ? i never do that ?

Get a rachetting angled phillips head screw driver. It will make life a lot easier. I think I paid 9 dollars for mine and it was worth every penny!

It's not absolutely necessary, but it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery before working on electrical components. Could save you from accidentally shorting a circuit.
