Engine Swap

I just lost oil pressure in my 95 max with 172k. I am looking to swap motors and was wondering if I have to stick to a 95-96 engine or can I go newer without any problems?

You can swap in any 95-99 engine. Newer engines will have some different sensors, so you'll have to swap several parts from your old engine onto the new one, but that's not a big deal.
