Hey guys,

How hard is it to change the power steering belts and pulley belts? I looked and found out that the noise or flapping noises are coming from some worn out belts. Or how much does it cost to have someone replace it? I have not experience at all with this. Please help.

buy the belts at an auto store yourself. shops will mark them up even more. find a good local shop, gas station, whatever. shouldn't be more than $ 50 parts and labor.

Go to http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/megamax/60k_service.html and scroll down to Step 7, Belt Replacement. Read the instructions. Click on any thumnail image for an enlarged view.

If you have zero mechanical experience, pay a professional to do this for you.
If you have ...
- a jack
- a jackstand
- an assortment of ordinary hand tools
... and some mechanical experience, then you can Do It Yourself.

My Max has about 70k miles on it now. I don't believe my belts were ever replaced. Were the belts a necessity on the 60k service?

JMAX95,
At 70K and 7 years old, it's time to change them. All factory belts are designed to fail on rainy/snowy Sunday nights when you are more than 100 miles from home.

The 60K maintenance includes inspection of the belts. No scheduled maintenance includes replacement of the belts. That should be done when inspection reveals significant deterioration.

The Haynes repair manual, on page 1-15, has photographs of acceptable and unacceptable wear conditions. Some small degree of cracking is deemed acceptable.
