manual swap????please help
i have a 97 gxe with 105k miles and am looking to do some modding like leather seats, sunroof, rims, new paint, tint, and performance mods, by the end of this spring. But first, i have a question. Driving stick is alot more fun for me than automatics, plus I want my car to be faster. Is it worth having my transmission changed to manual? How much does this cost and where can i have it done? I have little experience with working on cars, except changing my oil and air filter , lol. Or would it just be worth selling this and spening a little more on a 5 speed 98-99 with lower miles, and then modding that one?

Depending on where you get the parts, they'll range from like $800-$1500 (that seems to be the general average). There's a shop on Long Island (I know that does you no good) that does the swap for $1000 with ABS and $900 without.
Check out fastmaxima.com for the instructions on the how-to. It's pretty involved and could take a couple of days. If you're real serious about it and you aquire all the parts I suggest you talk to Jaime (Jay25). He can do it in like 2 days

Its most def worth the time-effort-money. I did it and I dont regret a thing. My price range was around 1500 but that was mostly because of aftermarket cluth+flyweel. I say do it but DO YOU RESEARCH !!!! Thats all it takes, im a novice wrench head and I was able to do it myself, cause I felt confident in job, due to the research I did.
