Hesitation is one of those symptoms which falls into the "Driveability Complaint" category. These are difficult to diagnose because so many different things can cause them. However, the problem is not with the pressure plate. The pressure plate is part of the clutch, and this is an engine problem, not a clutch problem.

Has all scheduled maintenance been faithfully performed? Did the Check Engine Light ever go on? Are there other symptoms? Does the engine start readily and idle smoothly? Does it have good power after the momentary hesitation?

Possible causes include
- weak fuel pump
- clogged fuel filter
- sticking fuel injectors
- "tired" Oxygen Sensors
- bad Mass Air Flow Sensor
