Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid by Ionic Dynamics/thebigsadler (pics/info)

The time has come and the Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid is finally ready for production. Finally. After the creation of 3 seperate molds, about 2 full on finished attempts, we have finally come out with a perfect mold and a trunk lid worthy of resale.

The fitament is excellent on this piece, all of the stock parts line up perfectly and leave no gaps or overhangs. Unfortunately this partically go-around is for the 97-99 owners, however, the 97-99 trunk lid fits the 95-96 cars (pictures soon)..

The trunk keyhole has been shaved and there has been an incredible weight loss with this piece; stock I believe is 45lbs (from nissan) to this unit which is just shy of 20lbs.

Pricing on these trunk lids sit at $600.00 per unit + freighted shipping (depending on where you live the pricing will vary). There are trunk lids in stock at Ionic Dynamics and waiting to ship out. There have been very few orders placed, but a seemily large amount of interest. Please remember that WRX/Audi/BMW trunk lids all sell for $850-1100.00 without shipping (we are in the same aftermarket and price value or lower than these cars).

Contact me via PM/E-mail about purchasing, this is not a for sale thread.

Pictures of the trunk lid installed on my car (excuse the dirt):

I thought these were alrady being sold. If I had enough money I'd buy it but right now, other mods are more of a priority for me. Good Luck with the prodcut though.

Could you provide the exact weight savings please?
The one on your car in the pictures is painted I take it? Do you have an unpainted picture?
So a '95/'96 owner could get this but we would need to get '97/'99 taillights, correct?
Silly question but can the carpet be reatached to the new one?

Thanks.

P.s. You forgot to shave your stock 'tenna sadler when you installed your Fuba.

It's not painted, if you look at the closeups, you see the weave.

Rosewood?

dam it looks real good but everything looks good on bigsadler's car . This obviously goes best with dark colored cars but i can easily see a lid on a beige or white maxima with matching carbon fiber hood

What is the difference than the stock one, other than it being lighter, and the keyhole being shaved??? Are those the main things to the CF trunk lid?

The trunk lid weighs at least 25lbs less, the 25lb mark is the low point. The main features of this trunk lid are that it is carbon fiber, lightweight, unique as all hell and it is completely shaved. The trunk keeps the same factory shape and integrity, as well as the underlining.

I am patiently awaiting pictures of the trunk lid on a 95-96, hopefully that will come sometime soon in life. I think that a lot of people may want this trunk lid for its aesthetics and some for its weight reduction, but either way it can still easily be painted.

As for my car, thanks for the compliments and the front is the m-bumper, the sides are retro-fitted E46 bmw hamann sides and stillen rear valances. And the car was dirty, the wheels especially.

You keep saying 'at least' or 'you beleive'. The only reason to get this is for the weight savings so it would be nice to have an exact number.

I agree with the last two replies. 25Ibs of saving is very different than 10Ibs. It definitely appears that there is a large gap on the driver's side. Please take close ups of the area of concern to prove us wrong and throw it on the scale.

This trunk lid saves your 25lbs. If it is different from 25lbs it is MORE than that. When I called Nissan, they said the stock trunk lid weighs in at 46.25 lbs and when the trunk lid was delivered to my house the box it came in weighed 21lbs. Now account for the fact that the BOX it was sent it probably weighed about 4-5lbs itself.

Do you need better numbers than that or more info?

If you have ever worked with removing a trunk lid or re-adjusting you know that the up and down gap on the tail lights in an easy fix. The reason there is gap in the pictures is because it was about 5pm and I had just gotten off work and was putting the trunk lid on, trying to save daylight. I didn't mess with adjusting the lid at all up and down, I just made sure that it had no gaps left and right.

I haven't seen my car in about 2 weeks, but when I get a chance this next week I will go ahead and adjust the driver's side down and prove that there is no gap. Like I said, our trunk lids can adjust up and down therefore if you know how the mechanics of it work then you will understand that the gap you see isn't really an issue.

Hope that answered those questions, I wouldn't sell a defunk product, let alone put it on my car and put my name behind it.

Still no interest though?

If the pics look good on a 95-96, than i'll buy one in a few months just spent a few thousand on rims ,ECU and 2000 plunum. This trunk will probably save me 35 lbs with me deleting the wing.
I think they should have been made for the 95-96 you would have sold more.

And I quote from Jason's post which was made well before yours...

"If you have ever worked with removing a trunk lid or re-adjusting you know that the up and down gap on the tail lights in an easy fix. Someone already brought that up, Jason answered. Don't people read posts anymore?

looking nice

No time to baby it, but it sure is still lookin nice. CF hood and trunk make a great combo on that color. Don't know why more people aren't jumping on this. I guess 600 is a little steep if you are only saving around 25lbs? I'd get it just for the looks alone.

I'd get one right now if I had a credit card. I have the money; its just that everything I buy for the max has to be bought on my moms credit card so that means she has to approve it all. That is a tough process amigos.

If I did get one, I am split on the painting issue. It cost more to paint, it has a perfectly good finish already and I want to let people know that I'm very into modding yet I want to maintain the classy/elegant maxima. Tough decision. I think I would paint it if it was going on my car but wouldn't if it was more a show or race setup.
