The bank account thing would work but then I would have the issue of dealing with my Mom. I do live in her house afterall. She doesn't mind the $$$ as much as the fact that I spend so much time on the max. She wants me to get better grades even though I have a 3.5. Her complaints are well founded though because she is a typical mother.

just awaiting deliveries here for new pictures.. I will have a damaged trunk lid in my possession this weekend that will be for sale for a discounted price. The fit is perfect on it, however the lid needs paint due to some cold weather and trying to lay the carbon.

Nice.. so enlighten us guys, what part of removal/installation makes the gap? Do you have to set the trunk on the brackets perfectly or something?.. One can only imagine until they try it, or read a real good how to.

Well when you remove the trunk lid you take off the 4 bolts on the arms.. The holes on the trunk lid itself (stock or cf) are larger than the holes that the bolts go in on the trunk arms. Therefore you can physically adjust it up and down about an inch or so on both sides (as an extreme) and some left to right (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch).

Once you get the up and down lined up, as well as the trunk latch in place you can push and pull the arms left and right to adjust it that way as well. The tension arms that hold the weight of the trunk lid and provide spring for the trunk lid are so tight that they can be manipulated by a simple pull on the trunk arms.

It is one of those "finnicky" adjustments that you really just have to play with. This is why I had stated that if you know anything about the trunk lid then you know that most gap can be eliminated, I was not trying to call anyone out or be a *******; it is just something that most people don't mess with so they don't know the mechanics.

I already asked that question and was ignored. My guess is all you need to do is buy/use '97-'99 taillights.

The other question which was ignored was what the exact weight savings is.

Looks really sexy. I think it's worth it for the weight lost and the fact that there is no keyhole. I guess shaving the stock keyhole should be a few hundred bucks already so that would be a good deal but unfortunatly, I've just quit my job so I have no more money and can't do anything to my max

Oh yeah, and what I would like to see a a white max with the three cf components made for the max. Anyone going to do this?

i wasn't trying to ignore you.. i just don't have a scale at my house (i am very self conscience... jk).

all I can give you at this point in time is that it is 25 pounds of weight saving or more.. sorry that I cannot be exact.

for what I know, you just need the outer tails, trunk lid and inner tails and rear bumper.. however i dont even think the rear bumper is that necessary, but find out from someone who has done this i guess.

there are no owners yet with white cars, i personally think it would look good but that is just me; i like the contrast.

Nope, a '97/'99 bumper cover is not needed.

Shaving the keyhole might cost $300 if your doing it independant of a paint job, however if you do it while painting it'll only cost $50 more.

I think the shaved aspect is greatly overlooked.. like you mentioned that is pretty much half the price of this project if you break it down.

hey ptatohed, if you buy a trunk lid you can tell me exactly how much weight it saves and whatever it saves I will refund you that much money hah..

That sounds good. So let's say the stock = 45lb. Let's say yours = 20lb, therefor it saves 25lb. So it saves 25/45 = 55% weight. 55% of $600 is $330. So you will refund $330?

looks pretty good. I mean, on a car as sick looking as yours, it is hard to say you don't like anything. I could not really tell that it was cf though. Just looked painted black. Looked good anyway.
