Cruse control is intermitent.. any ideas why??

Hey all,
It never kicks off when on cruse, but I can't always turn it on.
Driving in 5th, if it's on and I turn it off, I often can't turn it on for a little while. The timing seems to be completely random. I've watched the weather and it doesn't seem to be related to that, also the tempurature inside the car, and again it doesn't seem related. I know it's not the button on the dash and it's not the buttons on the wheel. I've tested these. I've also kicked at the clutch and break peddel to see if it may be a stuck switch. I'm very convinced it's not that either.

Any thoughts!??

Thanks,
Dave H.

maybe it depends on the gear you're in??? I never use my cruise control though, I don't feel like I have control of the car...

My turns off when I turn on the turn signal. It has to do with a bad electrical component in the steering column. It was going to cost something like $400 - $500 dollars to fix. This might be the same problem. I will see if I can find the quote?

Replace the cruise relay located under the hood.

Just a thought... it could be a faulty brake pedal switch. Go look for it and dig out all the fuzz and squirt it with some electrical cleaner and then maybe some WD-40. Good luck!

The problem was the clock spring the wiring harness for cruise runs through this and this is what is causing the problem on my car.

I know I don't understand this either. There is only one point where the turn signal wiring and the cruise control wiring even cross. It has been an interesting problem none the less.
