fixing a torn boot

I put a small tear in my control arm ball joint boot while removing the steering knuckle and not using the proper ball joint seperator. The way the control arm and ball joint are made you cannot just replace the boot or ball joint...the whole control arm has to be replaced. Since it just happend and the car is not put back together yet it would be real easy to just mend the boot right now.

Any innovative ideas on a good way to patch it up? I was think about some sort of rubber sealant or maybe a bike tire hole patching kit. Any ideas would be great.

An auto parts store or even home depot should have something like that. Just get a rubber sealant of some sort that is ok for outside use and doesn't become hard and stiff. Make sure to overlap the hole.
