O/D Light
O/D Light
Okay, yesterday I parked the car in the snow on the slight hill. I get off work at 11 and I start the car. All of the sudden I see the O/D light flashing at me. It flashed for like 5-10 times and shut off, so I let it run for 20 seconds and shut off the car. Then when I go to start up the car it starts and dies on me right away if I don't give it gas. WTF is up with my car, I didn't beat on it or anything and it only got 57,000 on it?
The same night it started fine, after it was warmed up.
Today it ran fine no flashing and it start normal, the only thing is that the starter binds when I start it from dead cold.

When your O/D light flashed at startup, this meant something has gone awry with your transmission. If you have a Hayne's manual, it will provide a procedure to extract the code from the transmission computer. If the flashing went away, more than likely, the transmission resetted itself, and hopefully nothing is wrong. Happened to me once. As far as the starter making noise at cold startups, this is common in all 4th gener's. The starter gears need re-greased. The grease has dried up and that is why you hear the "grinding noise" when it's cold.
