I second the filter question.

Also, would hot summer asphault temperatures be a problem being so close to the ground? Does anyone know the difference between air tempuratures 4 inches off the black asphault, vs: 24 inches?

I feel like the air must be cooler the further you get above the ground, but by how much?

Thanks for the pics!

Pics out of the car...

http://pictures.sprintpcs.com/guest/...hareName=Photo

the pics are basically a waste of time cause i used a crapy camera phone. ill have to revise the thread when i get something half way decent. im going to change the setup anyways. But other wise it was pretty simple to make once i found what would fit. the only thing im worried about is the rain.

i dont know really how else you could route the pipe, its a similar set up from tb to air box as the injen. eventually ill get a cone filter and have that run directly into the scoop

I think the setup will definitely get colder air but with the length of all that piping (and the bends as said above) you are losing out on a lot of potential power.

i disagree. Nismos set up is pretty cool and i was originally going to do something like that(ram air up to the box in its original spot) but then i looked at the 1/4 mile times for different aftermarket intakes and the injen always had the best times. i think this is because it has more free air to take with the longer intake which produces better power up top. Thats what our cars need is to extend the horse power peak on the tac. Your right about the bends and how they constrict the flow of air but what else can you do? Either way, i had a hacked box before and i can absolutely notice some good gains and i dont feel that power drop off at 5400 anymore, you cant tell exactly without a dyno but i feel it still pulling further up the tac.

PM DaveB...he has tried just about every single intake setup. In the 1/4 there are minimal differences between intake performances. The 1/4mi et and mph are always just about the same.

Do you think it would be more efficient to have the air box in the origianl spot and have air routed to there? IMO i think its better to have the air forced inot the filte directly. And as for the different intakes, minimal or not gains are gains and you always want the best because that can work with other mods to produce more power also...it can also work to your disadvatage too but i guess you just have to keep trying.

i have an injen type cold air intake now and i think its way better than the midpipe was, at least for me. i prefer mid - high end power, i already have plenty on tap off the line

holy ghetto fab!!! That thing is fugly i would stop now and not even bother you need to be honest with yourself. do you really need that? Do you drag race? street race? drive at high speeds where you might get minimal gains that dont justify the effort/money put into that project

20$ and an hour two of work doesnt do justice...i notice the gains. My friend bought a 300$ injen and says his isnt any better and you dont think it was worth 20$?!?! if i wanted a race car i would have bought a MOPAR. and I wouldnt be throwin the word fugly around if i had a cutless for my signature...that things beat.

Ghetto fab was short for Ghetto Fabrication. Do you really notice a gain or is it all in your head. I've run a Ram Air setup like that on my Cutlass at the track off of a 442 of the same year Twin Air Ducts underneath the bumper i only lost .2 of a second in the qtr mile and i was doing 134 miles an hour on nitrous all those bends your really resticting the air flow not making the shortest path possible for the air to travel. Aside from that do you really want that ugly looking thing under your bumper. At least if your going to try and make a weak attempt to insult my car at least spell it right.
