Question about Octane booster????
Is it safe to use and if so what type and brand, is the off road Octane Booster good to use, will it mess up with my o2 sensors? Probably will use it for the track.

Damn, they sell that at your track? The highest they sell here i believe is 100-octane unleaded at like 4-5 bucks a gallon. mixed with 93 would only yeild about a 97-octane...
Would love to hit 100octane...juice and 100octane...mmmmm....

For a while, I was blastin' a 100 shot. It was a custom nitrous kit that an engineering buddy of mine and I designed and put together for my car.
Before I would even consider dumping that much fuel and nitrous into my car, I wanted to have the extra safety margin of increased octane. So I mixed up some that put it around 98 octane.
When I first ran the mixture NA, with the colder coppers as well, it didn't run well at all. But hit the fun button and I was rockin' in the mid 13's, still rich.
Well after a while, the ECU began to adapt to the 98 or something. I started getting awesome fuel mileage as well as what felt like 6-10hp NA with the one step colder plugs and the 98 octane.
However, after I stopped running N20, I went back to my 92 octane gas. Boy oh boy did my car not like that ****. Ran like crap, got horrible mileage, etc. It stayed this way until I reset the ECU.
So I guess what I'm trying to bring to point in my post is the question, does running 98 octane actually give you higher output? I would say yes, but I can't confirm whether it was simply based on the higher octane, or the mixture of additives myself. My understanding of chemistry is limited to the undergraduate introductory level, which is what allowed me to calculate the ratios of each additive. However, I haven't taken the time to sit down and confirm theoretically, whether the new mixture actually has higher chemical energy in it, or if the mixture causes action x which is beneficial or aids in combustion rate or efficiency.
Is there anyone else that mixes their own "race" gas?

I run 114 unleaded which I believe is the highest unleaded available. It just happens to be sold at our local track but is not widely available.
The 116 is leaded, I wouldn't recommend it unless you use very little or want to change you O2 sensors often.
Here is the stuff I use. Mark 5. http://www.speedwaybikes.com/sponsors/fuel.htm

Wow, they dont even sell 114 leaded, i believe the highest they have here is 110 leaded octane/100 unleaded. At least at the track. I know there is a place around my house that sells race gas.
Have you actually ever found out what difference in E/T the race gas has gotten you?

Last year I used only 2 gals and I made a lot of test and tune runs plus all the races so pretty cheap insurance really. The smell is addictive, I love it.
Here is a picture of my portable setup for rental cars. Please don't show it to anyone.
It holds a fuel cell, pump, fpr, filter, fuel pressure gauge, purge, arming switch etc all in a small backpack.

The best part is were at the track, and of course a lot of people really know who my dad is now which is really funny. He's known at the track, likely better than I am.
So people are coming up and asking whats up with the Mustang/Sentra or other piece of shait that he is racing and asking where the Maxima is. There a gym bag sitting in the front seat (see above) and the nitrous crap all jimmy-rigged under the hood. People couldn't believe that he was spraying nitrous on rentals cars. The day he called me on the phone and told me what he was doing, I just about killed myself. This is typical crap that he does, if only I had the room to tell you about 27 years of crazy **** I have seen my father do...
The best part is guys asking, oh you spraying a 50shot. Uhhh. NOo.. 100hp shot on a base Sentra lol.. I'm surprised the POS didn't drop the trans right at the line the way he was spraying it right outta the bucket.
Next year is going to be a friggin disaster at the track between the two of us. Hopefully I can beat my dad at "MY" sport.
To get back on topic, the 114 is from PRO Race fuels and should be available in the US from alternate fuel distributors. If you call your local VP place he can probablly tell you who his competition is. The 114 unleaded Mark5 from PRO is pretty cool stuff. My buddy makes 460whp in a Miata and drives on the street with the ****. It doesn't kill O2 sensors like leaded does. If anybody is turbo, even Tial says not to use their ex-gate with leaded fuel because it clogs up the valve.
