Just bought a Stock Max! Tune up soon! K&N Air Filter instead of standard one??

Just bought a 1998 Black Maxima SE 5-speed!!! Awesome car. So much pick up. I love it. I'm gonna get a Tune-up done on it. Since the shop is gonna replace the air filter, should I buy a K&N for them to install? Someone I knew once told me that this would increase HP a little. Is that true? Are there any benefits of installing a better air filter, (besides getting intake later on)? THANKS!
