Problem with intake!

I just installed a place racing intake and filter on my 97 MAX SE.Its all hooked up and the car drives, but when i took the factory air box off the service engine light came on.The MAF is all hooked up,but the "breather" for the factory air box is still on there (Black air dam that goes from the old filter to right above the radiator). Does it come off? If it does, what happens to the box underneath the battery and the plug that goes into it and how do I take it all off? I need help.I don't even like driving it with that light on.Someone please let me know whats going on.Also,is there anything I can do to make it so that the new intake doesn't shake and rattle around? I have pics of it,but I can't post em right now.Let me know.

if u have found an extra plastic looking sensor....try plugging that into ur intake...into the round hole, that what i did, i found it laying around in the engine bay and i that's where it seems to go, but im not sure......try reseting ur cel light and see if the light comes back...if so....pull up the cell code from ur ECU and look it up in the FAQ's......

there is a sensor just as maxima98vspec said, it is probably still in your stock intake or as he also pointed out in the engine bay. nearly everyone misses it at first.

good luck

yeah I missed that sensor to. It's the ambient air temp sensor. Look at the mass air flow sensors wiring harness and it's the harness right next to it. And the sensor is hooked up to your stock box. Good luck man. Mine has never ran right since I put the intake on. OH and I sauderd a bracket to my cone filter and screwed that bracked down to the wheel well.

Well what if I wanted to take the breather off? Would I need to put something else there or would I just leave it open? Cuz there's a tube connected to the breather that attaches somewhere under the battery...So what do I do with that wire? Just let it hang there or actually attach it somewhere?? Cuz the service engine lights still on,if I reset the CEL will the light shut off??

you can take the entire intake off as i did, is the sensor the one that is attached to the metal bracket thingy? if so just zip tie it or lay it somewhere it wont get in the way.

you can reset the ecu, but you should go through the procedure to recover whatever code it is anyway, otherwise the code will just come back

good luck
