okie i have to admit i'm not the best maxima driver. well... i'm in the process gettin maxspeed + gr2s (cheap and serve its function well). we all know our maxima is kinda big. i'm just curious how do you guys park and go over bumps without scraping your bumpers and rims etc. i live in CA, so bumpy road isn't a problem. also maxspeed is only 1.5" drop which is not too bad.

so post and teach me how

I don't have my car lowered, but I am sure it is all about angles. Just take the things at an angle, or avoid when possible.

you need a spotter, just like 4-wheelin

j/k, 1.5 inches really shouldnt give you problems with anything but the steepest driveways. as far as speedbumps go, as long as you're not going 40mph you should be fine.
and as far as rims go... how does dropping your car affect rims again?

1.5" shouldn't be too bad. My car is lowered about 2.0"-2.2" in the front and i have to go over rough speedbumps at an angle , and very slow, also when you park just be sure not to go all the way up to the curb. But overall, the pros take over the cons and it is worth it.

Shouldn't be a problem with a 1.5" drop. Any lower and I'd start being more cautious.

I have H&R springs with the full Stillen bodykit. I don't need to go in an angle when it comes to speed bumps. Although, I do drive over them slowly. When I had the Sprints springs, I had to go in an angle because the Sprints gave me about a 2" drop. With the H&Rs, it's no problem.

Ya with no kit you will rarely scrape, especially at only 1.5" drop, and if you do its because the driveway you chose.....you should have parked it in the street instead....or go to the other WAWA in my case...LO.

I did scrape bad once, cracked the front downpipe of my Ypipe right at the 90º bend. Also another occasion I hit an iceblock and demolished the stillen front lip, and now I do scrape regularly on uphill/downhill corners and driveways but its on the underside of the front lip and can't be seen.

Taking everything 1 wheel at a time at 45º angles is the best way to avoid scraping IMO.

hmmm....i remember reading a thread that you weren't going to lower your car at all, or am I wrong? Well glad to see you decided to go for it. Your car should look much better. And speed bumps shouldn't be a problem for you with scratching. I never scratch over spd bumps but still go slowly. I've had a lot of bumper scratching against the curbs when i head-in park. Listen to gtr_rider. Stick your booty out~!

I have Tein S Tech with Stillen lip, ionic sides and rears. THe only time I scrape is in a deep driveway or high speed bumps. Make sure you b pipe hangers are new, this will help with the scraping of your exhaust pipes. With the body kit, be sure to go slow and take it at an angle if possible. I used to have to go up my driveway backwards. I placed about 1.5" of gravel and rocks at the bottom of my driveway to even it out. Hope this helps.

Also, if the springs are rreally stiff, you have to drive a little different by watching out for more things. IMO, manhole covers and pothole can become annoying.

You know the lower crossmember under the engine, parallel to the Y pipe? Lets just say on my 96 it was a bit beat due to Intrax and my speed fetish. If you come to a steep incline just go slow and try the angle thing, it all helps.

"Lowrider" style on dips and speed bumps, and nice and slow, and when I park I just dont pull all the way forward in the spot. You'll be fine, just dont barrell into anything fast.

yea i did, but after the norcal meet the wheel gap is KILLING ME! i looked at hakk97se (jon's) happy meal setup (maxspeed + agx) and really liked it. he's rolling on 18s though, i'm on 17s. but it did eliminate the most of the wheel gap, and give the car a nice finish. i also asked looslip (bob, maxspeed + gr2s on 5th gen) and hakk97se regarding the ride quality with maxspeed and kyb, they said they liked it. i should ask them for a ride, but forgot.

anywayZ yea...i lied. i'm gonna drop

I don't know what kind of bumps there are around you, but for me, going around isn't an option since they cover the whole street.

I'm lowered with H&R's, but because of my SFC's, I can't even get into my own driveway without scraping. Luckily, I can get in through my neighbor's driveway. I also scrape over some bumps if I don't slow down enough. Just try going over at an angle, it should help.

I have H&R springs and it only droped my car about 1.4" or 1.5". I never scrape my car by going over speed bumps, because I know when to slow down. I think if you drop your car like 2.0" then thats going to scrape easliy but you should be fine with 1.5".
