5spd/auto?

Is the 'clank' recurring, or does it happen once per rev?

make sure the starter is secured properly. I had some dude try to put his own starter into a car one time, car came in on a flatbed... starter messed up the flywheel teeth and it needed a new starter and flywheel again. I'm in Chicago if anything.

Check your exhaust hangers and motor mounts. Have you modified your Y, cat, B? Anything more than a clank you can offer? Sounds like it's from the front or rear or dash or what?

on the exhaust hangers/motor mounts.

Try bringing the engine slowly up to 3.5k and slowly back down...does it 'clank' when you do this?

Check your autotensioner (timing chain). It happened on my Prelude. PUll off our valve cover and look for wear on the chain/cover. It may be loose and flopping around.

bring the car to the Maxima meet we got at Hooters Schaumburg this Saturday I will take a look at it. BTW All Preludes where timing BELT driven, only thing that rattled in those where the out of spec valves-adjustable. Now if U owned a new TL I would say its a tensioner

hi all,

thanx for everyones replies....i had my cuz take a look at it and we found the noise to be coming from the exhaust manifold, but the sound eventually went away....weird...now my baby is driving smoother than ever =D...i think it could have been because either i havent drove the car for a long time or it could have been the throttle body cleaner. <shrug>
