O2 and Knock Sensor...

I heard somewhere that if the O2 sensor goes bad, it causes the ECU to think tha the Knock Sensor is bad as well. Can anyone confirm this, I pulled both codes the other day, and I don't to fix anything that isn't really broken. Thanks in advance.

There was a message somewhere on this site that suggested to to spray the OS with carb remover. (To spray it thouroughly and plug it back in) The person claimed it worked well.

The KS and O2 are two totally separate things. However, the KS will not light the CEL. But an O2 will. So when your O2 finally lights the CEL you may also get the KS code if it's been flakey, or is totally bad. Nothing causes the KS to go bad. It's just a junky sensor that doesn't last as long as it should.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

Many people have indeed reported that after replacing the O2 sensor, the KS code went away. Definitly replace the O2S first and check again.

I had a Cylinder 1 misfire code and a knock sensor code 0304.. had the Cylinder 1 misfire fixed, and the SES light went away. However it came back on, now with a bad O2 sensor 0503, and the knock sensor code is back as well 0304.
Does this mean the KS was bad all along, and only brought up the SES light when the 02 sensor went bad?

Again, the KS does NOT light the SES. If you fix a misfire and your SES light goes away, that doesn't mean the KS code goes away too. It's still there, but it's not considered emissions critical and therefore doesn't light the SES. Only things critical to emissions will normally light the ses.

Yeesh calm down, thats what I was saying
I had the bad KS this whole time, but the code layed dormant, didnt light the SES - but then I got the bad 02 sensor. That lit the SES. When I pulled the code, sure enough the KS code was there too.

Looka at www.thepartsbin.com I got mine there ,they are Bosch ,and have no problem... As a bad sensor ,it could be the sensor itself or could be the heater. In my situation ,was the sensor heater and the light was OFF. I replaced both sensors and the Ks sensor and the car runs like a clock...I can get 400 miles or little more ,with 4 snow tires on it...Not too bad...

I'm organizing a group deal through oxygensensors.com, which everyone says is the cheapest place anyway, for 15% off regular price on the oxygen sensors.

If 0304 code = yes, then replace
If 0304 code = no, then why bother?
