theater dome light

I have looked through the FAQ's and the How To's, but I don't see. If anyone knows how I can get (if possible) the dome light of my 98 maxima to dim like the theater lights on BMW's, please let me know.

Thanks

even better then that i would like to know how to convert my headlights to be auto on and off accourding to the ambient light and also so that they would stay on for a certain amount of time before shutting off after shutting off the engine....that would be awsome if i can do that!

I'm guessing, but you'd probably just need a capacitor. What size? Don't ask me cause I have no clue.

Hope this helps... kinda

reading through the description, it doesn't sound complicated, but I have no idea what to make of that diagram

my G20 had a dimming dome light. I'll check the wiring diagrams and stuff to see how it works. I know that it has something to do with a timer on-board...so if you have intermittent wipers...it uses that timer. Hmmm

going by that diagram, you would want to use a circuit board because wiring that transistor without one would be near impossible, and the thing in the middle is an operational amplifier. so basically what I am saying is, if you don't know about electronics, this probably would not be a good project.

I will look into it soon, once I get some extra time. I might be able to make a few and sell them to you all for a few bucks. Right now, I'm trying to finish up my LED tails. I just need more TIME!!! Damn school and work!

I know what you're talking about, my stepdads silverado does this. It's a pretty cool feature. I HAVE looked into this, and the diagrams show that it uses a photocell and is hooked up to the vehicle computer. So, there is no telling what kind of circuit diagram that would be. If you were just to use a photocell in a simple circuit, everytime you went under a bridge or some dark spot, your lights would blink on and off. The only way I see to do it would be to use an amplifier circuit with a capacitor to dictate the amount of time the lights would be on.

I could probably do this, but as you can see from my previous post...I HAVE NO TIME! Actually, I just got home from work and I'm getting ready to leave for school in about an hour.
