Replacing rear speakers

My back-left speaker ripped yesterday and that ****ed me off quite a bit. So I'm already out hunting down new speakers and I found some I want. However, I'm wondering if I can install them myself or is it necessary that a pro do it? I think I could get the speakers out and the new ones in pretty easily, but removing the little cover thingies that are over the speakers is another thing. Anybody know how to remove those? I couldn't find any sort of clips or screws or something that holds it in and I didn't want to apply too much force because I was afraid that I would break it. Also, are the rear OEM speakers 6 1/2"? I found some that I'd like (Sony Xplod speakers 220watts 55 watts RMS )

If I could do this myself I would like too because then I would be able to get the speakers sooner.

Thanks for your help!

Why does everyone assume you can just pop the speaker grille off and get to the speakers? You should know by now that would be waay to easy for us.

I fitted some infinity 6X9s and they sound MUCH better then the factory speakers, which I think are 6.75s. Although I know that you can put 6.5s in there without much of a problem.

The covers are attached to the material on the rear deck from the bottom. So what you have to do is take out the back seat, and then lift up the material on the rear deck and then unscrew the covers from the bottom. But you dont need to take them out to replace the speaker, unless you want to get aftermarket speakers and use those covers, which i have found to generally be not big enough to cover the space that teh stock cover used.

if u want 6X9's, u can always install them from underneath instead of on top. I had some MTX on my old 95 GLE which had a lot of bass and they were installed this way.

Take out the back seat? Is there some kind of lever or do I have to dig deep to get those out of the way? I was messin around with the seats earlier today and I thought they flipped forward but I didn't try to hard to find out.

It's not that hard at all.

But I love my 6x9s

This pic was without the speaker grilles on.
As well as before emblem shave and also 5% tint.

And yes, that's a maxima parked in front of me...
