Coils for my 99 GLE

I called Courtesy and ordered some Mistibisi coils. The guy in the parts department told me (based on my VIN) that I have a basically have a 98 engine (due to some production split or something) and that the coils are different between the two versions.

I just got the coils, but before I break the seal on the boxes, I want to make sure I have the right parts. Is there any way to tell based upon the part numbers?

Thanks

-Mike

The 99 Max coil part numbers are :

22448-31U11 - Right (Windshield) Side
22448-31U16 - Left (Radiator) Side

I don't know the 98 part numebrs, but you can look them up at www.jerryromenissan.com in 'parts and accessories'.

Yup, those are the parts I have!

Based upon my VIN, I'm not sure what that guy was telling me that I had a "split production" vehicle. Any suggestions?

It sounds like he was telling you that you have the same engine configuration of a '98. I have no idea if that's actually the case with your car.

I'd do some checking around, maybe get a second opinion...

What the 'split production' is all about is: Nissan retools in June, mid-year. an early year 99 will have similar parts to a later year 98. Two examples: later year 98's have the same automatic climate control 99's have, therefore that's why some people, like me can get an AMB button and get the ambient temp to display because the unit has the functionallity. Another example is the later model 99's like the SE-L having 2000 model emission components.

Basically, they would be saying your 99 was produced before June ,therefore will share some of the same parts as a 98 produced after June. All Nissans are split production. That's why the dealer will ask for your VIN when they are looking up parts. The model year doesn't always 'tell the story'
