Magnaflow muffler

Hey guys, I am sure this question was asked before, so if you don't want to answer just point me the right way. But I would rather get some actual input.

I am looking into a Magnaflow muffler. There is a lot to choose from when you go to their site. On the sound clips I didn't find anything that resembled our engine, so I am a bit confused.

What series will fit the Max and has a smooth, deep but not too loud sound to it? If any of you have one on your ride let me know what you think please.

What size tip do we need for the Max? Is it 2.25 or 2.5?
Is a 4" outlet tip going to fit in the bumper opening?

Hey I noticed on your site that you are thinking of buying 18" wheels. I have a set of Lexani with tires if you are interested.

you want the oval, to avoid being flamed. 2.25" inlet, 4" single tip of some sort. i would stick to the street series. i haven't heard a magnaflow on a max yet, but they tend to have good low sound.

i'd record sound clips but only thing i have is digi cam that records horrible sound. i have an analog camera but its such a hassle to get it into a digital format. all i can say is my magnaflow is mean sounding. it was perfect then i got my y pipe and wow. talk about loud and mean. it scares old ladies. also the 4 inch tip fit Perfectly in our cutout and imo isn't ricey at all. oh its shiny too!

You're right blackonblack, oval was my first choice anyways.
Is buying a used muffler a good decision? Or is it a waste of money?

Torgus, I have a y-pipe in the garage and am debating wheather to or not to install it. On the scale of 1-10 (10 being the loudest car exhaust you've heard)
rate the volume in normal, easy driving and in WOT, please.
Also, how is it at interstate speeds?

i added a resonator is doesn't drone a whole lot.
THROW on that y pipe ASAP.
my car is around 6 in your scale 7 without the resonator....which really helped clean out the sound
only time it get loud is at low speed, rpm, and uphill all at once....
buy it and let me knwo hwo you like it!
don't buy used imo...

I just had a budget b-pipe and muffler installed this past weekend and let me tell you the magnaflow 14829 street series muffler sounds and looks great. It is just a low rumble at idle. As you accelerate it sounds really deap then around 2500 gets quieter, less deep sounding and sounds sweet all the way up the rpm range. The only thing is I didn't know that there would have to be an extra pipe welded from the b-pipe to the muffler, i thought it was just a direct weld, but other then that its great. The volume overall never gets too loud, I give the magnaflow muffler two

I spent some time at a local muffler shop yesterday. I see you guys getting the street series and I thought this would be my choice too, but the longer I was there the more I started leaning towards the XL series, the 3 chamber one.
It is not mirror shine (the main drawback), but it is less expensive and if I was to install the y-pipe that has been hanging in the garage all winter, I think the straight through design of the street series might be a little too loud.
Without the y-pipe, I would go for for the 14829 because of the duall wall tip design.

Here is a pic of the 14829:
