Macco's legacy >=(

For those who don't know my car was originally white pearl. However I had heavy rust damage and the paint was fading. I decided to go with MACCO.
I know I beg Your forgiveness.
Well my front bumper is flaking off just check my page. I want to get the bumper redone in time for the Toby Beach meet.
WELL GUESS WHAT!. I had been to three body shops in the L.I. area and ALL SAID they would not touch my car with a ten foot pole.
Because of the paint formula used by Macco they can't match it. On top of that I got the usual well you got what you paid for speech. I had made peace with my mistake a while ago and for the money it's a good paint job, and I got a four year guarantee. ( Getting them to fix their mistakes is hell) Even the first body shop guy told me for MACCO I got A good job, BUT it was poor compared to their standards.
Well I wanted to know if they can't match the color can they repaint the car right. I got A NO! From all three.
They said the car is not worth the labor and I should take it back to Macco to get the bumper redone. I told them this was not a beater but a car in mint condition that will last me another ten years. They said it just wont be worth it for them to invest time into a car this old. Then added to just stay with Macco from this point on This was after he quoted me $5000.00 and said even if I agree it's not worth it for him.
This was echoed at the other two body shops. Even if I agree to pay for the paint job they wont do it. Saying the work is worth more then the car.
I like honesty and NO BULLS*HT, but to hear this made me mad. I don't want to go back to Macco but if I don't find a shop I guess I will have to.
This sucks. they don't see that I value my car more then what it's worth but to them it's a numbers game and the time on my car it's not worth it.
quotes:
$5000.00
$7000.00
$6 to $8000.00
ARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I will be back in Astoria this weekend I I check out the Macco I went to then I'll check out the ones in L.I.

Guys know of a place in the long Island or the 5 boroughs?

They will not repaint the bumper for free. When it started flakeing I went to them and got the "we never warrent bumpers, or rubber goods" line.
Thats why I said getting them ot own up is hell. I want to advoid it if possible.

They warrent the shine for 4 years on the whole car<except the bunpers>. To repaint the bumper I think they said about $400 that was a while ago so i could be wrong. I'll see this week end.

I agree. Ive never heard of anyone saying it would not be worth it for them. I dont get it. How could it not be worth it to them. Their not paying for the work, its not their vehicle.
I could understand them saying it would take more work then usual, sanding down all the old paint then redoing the process, Or that it would be cheaper to buy a new bumper and just paint that one.

As a business owner that sells services, one of the first concepts you learn is to set expectations and not set yourself up for failure. What I read into this description above is that trying to obtain their standard of professional painting is high risk following behind Macco's work.

Prices are probably high due to that risk elimination by completely stripping down Macco's work and starting from the base.

You see why can't they take your $$$, and they see their standards and your satisfaction.

I design and develop websites for a living, and you I won't even try to correct MS Frontpage disasters.

My 2¢.

Mr.P

Sorry about your issue, Let us know if you find an angle on Macco.

Keep looking for someone that will paint your bumper. Or get a new bumper, or a bumper off of a wrecked Maxima. Someone should be able to match the paint fairly closely, heck you can bring them in a flaked off paint sample.

why don't you just pay to get a new bumper cover and get that painted. when I had a fender bender, I had to get a new bumper cover and have it painted. shouldn't cost you more than a $1000.

My bumper is fine no dents. It's just the paint is comming off. My bumper is less then 9 months old. And if it comes down to stripping then I can do that myself. Then get it done it's just that the body shops can't match the paint cause of the formula Maaco uses.

Well I went to the Maaco that did the job in the first place. To sum up he will not repaint the bumber for free, He will not repaint the edges that the paint is comming off.( he said they are chips not flaking).
But he offered to repaint the entire car including the bumpers and the door jams for $600.00 flat. No tax.
.........I said I'll get back to him..
What do you think?

$1000 is wayyy to much. Should be more like $500 or $600 for a new bumper cover and having it painted, otherwise you're getting ripped off.

If you're willing to make the 3 hr trip to DC I go to s shop that is really good. I have 99 iin Aspen Pearl. It's 3 stage and ver difficult o match especially after the ages. They painted my kit and it' didn't quite match. They offered to shoot it again and it came out perfect w/ a lifetime warranty. This shop does all the Nissan dealer work in my area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Well I checked out another body shop and this one was more frendly. Basicly they want 5400 to start but the price will go up depending what they find under the paint. They said it's up to me and they will star right away if I decied to use them. This is the same body sop Jeff from MaximumTunning got his max painted. They a great job on his car and they offer a life time warrenty.. I'm still looking I guess My max may still have the fugly bumber at the tobay beach meet. If you guys know of anybody else like profesionals who do side work please let me know thanks.
