What are the best fog light bulbs?
I have a broken fog light that I'm repairing tomorrow and I'm thinking about replacing the bulbs while I'm doing the work.
I have a pair of new silvania silverstar headlights that I bought before I started reading the forum. I'm probably going to switch the the Phillips Blue Visions when these burn out.
My big concern is more light output. We have a lot of snow and unlit highways out here in Colorado, so I'd like something that really illuminates the road in poor weather conditions.
Any thoughts?

if you have silvania silverstar headlights I would not get anything blue or hyper white. Because they wont match. I recently tried silvania silverstar headlights and I did not like them. I returned them. They were way too dull and looked like the normal headlight on my older maxima. (i pulled them face to face and compared)
I am concerned about the color of the foglights matching the color of the headlights. I dont know if you are.
I would suggest getting the hyper white blue looking bulbs from procarparts. I had the foglights in my car and they were nice and bright. The color was just right. The thing i liked the most about these were that the fog and head lights matched. So i would tell ya to go get new headlight and foglight bulbs from procarparts.
PS dont forget to order 2 new headlight harness/sockets and replace those too cause my OEM sockets burned out form using aftermarket bulbs. I would assume yours will too and this might save you some time, trouble and burned out bulbs. I purchased my new headlight sockets from Courtesy Nissan [sales@courtesyparts.com]

I have HIDs in my main headlights, regular oem 4300K. What fog bulbs can i get to match those best besides another HID kit. I have another OEM hid kit but dont know how to rebase the bulbs and dont know where to buy real HID h3 bulbs.

What did you replace your silverstars with?

Im using the procarparts(pcp) hyper white bulbs in both my headlights and foglights. Im using these bulbs cause they are cheap, they match and have the bright blue look i like. I had a few ppl compare the silverstar with the pcp bulbs and they all said they liked the blue and that the silverstar looked normal.
Your probably looking to get what Max Noob is recommending.
Narva/Phillips Rally Gold h3
they look cool on his car.
suvlights.com
click on halogen, then h3 type.. under gold..
if you want to overwatt it..the narva's are 85w, the candle power are 55w(playing it safe) the phillips.. i dont know..but probably 55 too..
narva, and candlepower are both made by phillips the parent company..so its quality stuff.

Over wattage bulbs can melt the wire harness.
I got my bulbs from a local speed shop...Advanced Auto sells them. I paid about $14 for the pair.
And for Max Noob.....what did the Narvas cost? They look nice, but for the money I love my Gold Ions.

i paid 35 picked up..the suvligths guy is stationed like 25 mins away from me.
i have had them about a year.. no melted harness.. no cracked lenses.. knock on wood..
i think the fog glass on the 95-96 is better than the 97-99.. alot of people with overwattage fogs have cracked lenses on a 97-99..

off the subject..is the drop resister wired to a switch actaully a performance mod? doesnt it just replace the knock sensor..but then you will be running at the non advanced timing?

certified beast- i dont think there are any corner bulbs that are gonna match you well. good job onthe 4300k HID though..thats what its suppose to be. not 6-9k. look for a super white corner bulb where the glass isnt very blue. and cut the nub on the bulb so its always on bright. should match up aiight.
sk24iam- suvlights.com 18 per bulb..

I pulled the car into the garage today to start pulling things apart and I realized two things:
1. I should probably wait to install the new fog light until I have the replacement bulbs.
2. Replacing the fog bulbs is a lot different that replacing the headlights. Has anyone seen a how-to? I'm good at following instructions, but I'm new enough that flying solo makes me uncomfortable...
Get NAVRA rally gold...have these for about 3 months and they have not blown yet. Plus the lighting on this things kick @ss. Would highly recommend.
narva on
navra off
narva on
navra off
Its easy man, unscrew the plastic screws and little black cover. Remove the fog light. Pull it out a little, the hard part is getting that metal clip out of its groove. After you do that replace the bulb by putting the metal prongs on the apropriate connector. Put it all back together.
