re-programming keys???

re-programming keys???

my car wouldn`t start the other night at my friends condo the other night, it turned over but wouldn`t start, i had it towed to the dealer he said i must have been parked by a power station because the ecu was wiped out and the computer chip in the key was cleared, he charged me 90 bucks to re program the computer and both my keys for the car. he said he only saw this happen about 7 times in the 10 yrs. he has been thier. is thier a way i can re-program the ecu and keys if this happens again??

Luckily us pre 99s dont have a chip so we dont deal with this.
