would cleanin tb fix this?

heya there guys. ive noticed something strange with my car.

in the mornings during cold cold starts, sometimes when i start the car. the rpm jumps up to around 1200, then goes all the way down to 400-500 and then it goes back to 1200 or so and stays there while i let the car warm up for 3-4 min and it slowly works its way down to 750-800 rpm.

when it jumps down to 400-500 rpm, the car feels like its goin to turn off or there is no gas goin in, it also shakes a little. its like it takes a DEEEEEEEEP breath (just like when u hold ur breath under water and come on surface and kinda take a deeeeeeep breath).

i also noticed that sometimes it makes a wierd loud noise right after i start it (during cold starts). i start the car and once the rpm comes down to 400-500. the car goes EEEEEEEEEEEEEE. some wierd *** sound, i cant explain it.

anyone got any ideas? clean tb or what??

28k miles, auto tranny and 91 octane gas.

thanks

there are many factors, i'm just gonna throw them out:

1. clean air filter (whatever intake filter you have clean it)
2. clean throttle body
3. clean idle air valve
4. adjust IAC
5. manually check for CEL code, you mite have ghost 0304
6. check your spark plugs
7. check your engine coolant temperature sensor

i am NOT going to look up each individual instruction. so FAQ you.

after you check that you still have problem feel free post away and maybe more people will help you out.

Do everything happyricefob mentioned, that's all good troubleshooting, but most likely I have a feeling its a coil pack.

Exact same issue with mine, jumping RPMs, it was the coil pack.

Do the throttlebody first. If you go to motorvate.ca and look there (it is a great site by the way), you will find throttle body cleaning directions. As you read you will find that Frank had the same issue and it got resolved by TB cleaning.
If it doesn't work, go down happy's list.

no it cant be that. i always use 91 octane and i always drop in a bottle of techron every 3k.

i hope its just the tb. it doesnt happen evertime. it happens like 2-3 mornings in a week. i hope it aint something costly?

how much is a coil pack?

the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE is your starter, mine does it too--- i re-greased it and it still does it-- it's not disengaging from the flywheel fast enough

adjust your idle and calibrate the TPS to the correct specs. I did that with mine and it actually changed my idle to the correct specs.
