(95 nissan maxima 5-speed)
98k miles

A while back on the highway me and my brother were heading to a store and the traffic infront of us suddenly stoped so he slamed on the brakes and i glanced at the gauges and noticed that 2 lights lite up and the power in the car kinda dimmed out like the radios volume sounded faint. Well after letting go of the brake the lights turned off and everything was fine again.. Is this a problem or a brake sensor. The car doesnt have ABS but im not sure if everyones car does this or if anyone has enough time to look at their gauges while trying to make a complete stop.

Another question is when the car is warmed up and u turn the wheel without moving the car is makes this steering noise. Something like old ford taurus, but very faint. It doesnt make it when the car is moving. Im just curious because sometime soon ill be getting that car and around 98k miles i want to be in safe just incase anything happens.

Thanks for your time

when he slammed on the brakes, he probably didn't put the clutch down fast enough, and the engine started to stall out, so the dummy lights you saw on the dash were probably the same lights you see when you first start the car, and turn the key to the on position before cranking the starter.

The noise that you hear when moving the steering wheel is most likely the power steering pump. They make noise when under stress, such as being moved while the car is sitting still. This is a failry normal noise, unless it gets progressively louder. The pump makes more noise the lower the fluid is, so you may want to check that.
