smell during hard aceleration?

smell during hard aceleration?

i have a 96 se 5 speed.. with 150,000 miles on it. the other day i was going down the highway at like 65-70 and totally not thinking i downshifted into 2nd and redlined my engine really hard to like 7000 and ever since that every time i acelerate hard it reeks in my car. does anyone know what could cause this? thank you

burning clutch?

when you accelerate now, does it seem as stiff? does the clutch slip at all?

Smells like your clutch is slipping. Lots of clutch slippage will actually burn the clutch, along with warping the flywheel. I have completely fried clutches before because they began to wear out, and I ignored them. Dont accelerate hard until the problem can be fixed. Time to take her to the shop, you dont want to have to buy another flywheel.$$$$

And, you can get that nice, new clutch you have been wanting to get.

it doesnt smell like clutch cause i have gone through a clutch and have smelled a buring one also and this has quite a different smell.. hard to explain.. kinda like the engine is buring up or something.. never had any smell at all under acceleration before i redlined her

I usually smell something to during HARD acceleration, but I think its because I **** my pants.

I have a similar problem

Hey, I've been smelling burning as well. I think mine may be coming simply from an antifreeze leak, or from an oil leak, but I'm not too sure. I have automatic, so I know its not a clutch issue. If anyone else has suggestions, let me know. Good luck with your car man.

Sometimes your cat can clog up and have a really bad smell. Kind of like rotten eggs. Just a thought have u considered that
