Possible ECU swap?

I currently have a 95 auto maxima, and will hopefully be getting a 97 5spd soon. The MEVI is a mod I'm considering, but I"d also like the added ECU benefit. Will the 95 auto ECU be functional in the 5spd? And visa versa, the 97 into the 95? Just wanted to know, incase I dont have to buy a separate ECU for the 97 maxima. Thanks

Justin

One other thing...clutches. There is a stock clutch in the car, but has VLSD , I run right now a 50 shot of nitrous, but would like to up it to 75 or higher, and I know the stock clutch wont hold w/ all the bolt on's. What's the best clutch I should get? Mostly street use, but a lot of spirited driving, as well as track use (but that's seasonal since we have several feet of snow half the year)

I would have to say that the 95 will work regardless of transmission but i don't know if the 97 ecu will work in the 95. I'm pretty sure that it will. You will probably just have a CEL on both cars.
As for the clutch, i would go with the exedy clutch OEM replacement or the stage one that they offer as well. I read that the ACT is a great clutch as well to work with but people have said that the clutch grips so well that other component in the transmission break down.

how does your car VLSD is it canadian or something? And which one are you talking about 95 or 97? You know that autos don't have clutches like manual, right?

And those clutches can handle ~120hp over stock? I dont want to screw up the transmission with the clutch, that is actually what happened to the 97, had an ACT clutch in there, 4 puck I believe, and it messed up the tranny which is how the VLSD got in the car now.

The 97 which I am looking to buy is the 5spd. That is the car with the VLSD, the tranny was recently replaced a few months ago. It's my friends car. Yes I know auto's dont have clutches like manuals; I was referring to the 97 and it having a stock clutch and that it wont hold the mods which will be on the car. Sorry if I didnt make it clear in the 1st post.

Anyone know for sure if they are interchangable with the different transmissions?
