hesistation effecting times

ive got a little hesistation from a coil thats going bad in my car now, and dad wont pay for a replacement untill the hesistation is more noticable . but anyways, the hesistation occurs around the 4k-4.5k range in second gear only and when at wot. and i was wondering how much this will effect my times and performance when im racing at the track. also when im racing is it better for me to shift to third right when the hesistation starts, or should i just stick it out and ride it till redline like normal?

I know exactly what you mean because I already went through 2 coils. I'm a college student, and although I pay for them myself, my parents convinced me to wait until the hesitations were more noticable.

Yes, the car is much slower with the hesitations. Honestly, a stock 97-99 SE with slight hesitations due to bad coil(s) WILL lose to a stock 97 honda civic EX.

I just don't get it, must you really race when your coils are bad? That is very stupid - Don't do it, what's the point of racing a 1/4 mile if you know your times ARE going to really really suck!?

I agree with BOSS, there is no need to race until you get them fixed. I have the same problem, but I have not had a chance to fix them due to a broken arm . I was wanting to go to the track and see my time (never have), but it is pointless with a coil(s) acting up.

They're only 60 bucks, and it might be your knock sensor, because I thought it was a coil, but after I did my KS, the hesitaion went away.

I have all that lined up to do when my arm gets better: fuel filter, plugs, ks, coils, air filter...etc.

yeah i guess i can put up with my friend saying just how bad he could whip me in his 2000 eclipse gs. and i agree it wouldnt make much sense to race him now anyways, cause then he would end up being right. oh well i guess i can stick it out.

also i dont think its my knock sensor because i just recently got a new one. and NmexMAX where do you buy your $60 coils from?
