Stroking The Engine!!

I was thinking about the posible gains that you would expect to get out of changing your stock pistons, and extending the piston rods for more compression. I was guessing 50 - 60 hp.

Is this even in the ball park?

it would also involve a new crack. Much cheaper to buy a 3.5 and putting all the 3.0 hardware on it. This is what i would like to do myself.

you mean taking parts from a 3.5 liter and swapping them for the 3.0? That does soud like a good idea.

sorry I meant crank. The 3.0 heads, intake etc will fit on the 3.5 block.

what would you be looking at as far as hp coming out of that mixture? How much gain over the 3.0? What are you talking about cost wise to do the whole thing.....given that you could pretty much do it yourself?

Hi, new to the forum...
Swapping internals seems like the easy way to go if they do fit, the vq30 is very undersquare to begin with so Im assuming the stroke would actually help it gain more desirable geometry. Are there any differences in the heads with the vq35 and the vq30, maybe cams, valves, springs? Anything like that, maybe the injectors are larger too, im not sure if you would even need larger injectors though.

I think 50-60hp would be kind of pushing it, .5 more liters IMO wouldnt help it that much without more supporting mods. The best thing you could hope for is more low and mid range power.
