You should always, always, always, under all cercumstances run premium (91-93 octane). Your car is made to run on it. The smell might be wires melting, antifreeze burning, something in your vents, etc. Mice crawl into my friend's mothers camry vents often and die-but you'd probably no it, if it was that.

I get a wierd smell too and I have checked everything and I just came to the conclusion that it was just one of those things to leave alone... I have enough air freshener in Maxine to deodorize truck stop bathroom so I guess that I can deal with a hint of odor.

umm, if it smells anything like fuel you'll want to get that fixed asap, or else you might get a nice lil fire under the hood. If it doesn't smell natural, try to take it to a goodyear or something for your next oil change, and chat with the mechanic there, most of the time they'd be willing to sit in your car for a minute or two and see if they can smell it as well, you should never smell anything from your vents ...

It's probably the little dwarfs that come about this year and live in dark confined places. Check your engine, one might be living under the hood and probably clogging up you vents with caca.
