Speedometer pinion location on tranny

Ok, so i pulled the tranny on my 96 5 speed Max, and got it fixed. It was my first time so i was way too excited to pay attention to what i was disconnecting. Long story short: i went to put back the now good working tranny and reallized there are a few (2) harnesses not connecting to anything!!!!! WTF??!!!! But i at least know what is not connected up--My Speedometer is not connected. How do i know? I can't tell how fast i'm going!!!
So here is my question for those that pulled their tranny and payed more attention than me. Where the heck is the speedometer pinion on the tranny?? or is it even on the tranny???? My diagram shows it on the tranny, but i looked and felt around the relative area but was unsucessful. Any idea would be much appreciated. Anyone w/pics of their tranny?? that might help. Thanks

did my tranny last summer. and its the round black plastic piece, location top of the trann towards left corner( when sitting the same way as if installed. and if you taknig it outta a used tranny, i recommend trying wd40 to get in and loosin things up. i craped mine taking it off and it ended up leaking tranny fluid while driving. if you brought a new tranny, then there probally was a plug in that whole.(thast why you maybe didn;t leak fluid. ( new one costed me $37 bucks at a local dealership. (beware when buying, i went to 1 nissan dealership. they told me 85 and not in stock!! tell me i can't get it cheaper anywhere else. tipical bs axcuse. i got to otehr dealership 2 tiems the distance, and it was worth it for 37 bucks plus in stock!!) maybe this wil help. good luck. -rafal

Thanks for the help, i'll have to take out the started, and the air box to get a better look. I think i know what you are talking about. I thought it was the box breather. Anyhow, do you remember how many connection to the tranny??? i thought there were two, but now i'm not so sure since i can't find where to plug in the speedometer pinion. thanks for the help.
