man i really wish had a stick...so i can burn my friend's car which is an si...which is really sad that i lose to him when we race...he has dc sports headers, i think it was a dc sports exaust, and an aem cold-air intake...and i got nothing modded...wat can i get to beat his 2nd gear acceleration? the thing is i think i can catch up to him like after his 2nd gear but he always stops after 2nd gear so i don't get the chance to catch up...but still i think the maxima should have a faster take off...
Get an intake, y-pipe, and underdrive pully, and you should be able to burn him. At worst you'll be near even through first a second gears, and then kick his *** up high. I kick the crap out of Si's.....even lightly modded ones.

I dont really have a prob with SI's. I only have a prob when they are modified. I'm able to take my friend;s 00 SI up to 120 then he's gone.
Mine is automagic but i do have the vb mod. The high end is there but low end acceleration sucks man.
You can hang with a stock 5 speed (if you have at least CAI or Intake) up to 2nd gear, but as soon as they bang their third gear, they walk us automagics.

damn it's sad
man i think that maximas should beat an si no matter wat unless it's like modded with some crazy stuff but i mean...maximas are 6 cylinders and si's are 4...yeah i kno they're light but still...i guess i just can't accept that si's fade maximas...

Personally, I think the 4 Speed Auto in the U.S. spec Maximas are really terrible in terms of gearing choice --
I posted a few threads sometimes in the past asking about altering the gearing for the automatic -- most folks pretty much say that its about impossible --
Well guess what -- I was just in Korea for about 7 weeks --
I had a "Samsung Motors" car -- which actually is an InfinitiI30/4th Gen Maxima exact copy clone -- all Nissan materials but just with Samsung's name on it -- -- Don't ask why it has a Samsung name on it -- that is a whole story in itself --
Anyway, this rental car had about 70,000km on the clock -- about 45,000 miles so I guess it was a 99 model -- it has a 2.5Liter version on the VQ engine -- and judging from the way the engine pulled at the very high RPMs, I think it had the 5th Gen engine variable plenum air intakes --
Anyway, the 4 speed auto really did that car some justice -- it pulled about as well as a US spec 3.0Liter --
Cause all the gears were about 15% shorter than a US spec tranny --
1st gear / 35MPH @ 6000RPMs
2nd Gear / 65MPH @ 6000RPMs
3rd Gear / 100MPH @ 6000RPMs
4th Gear / 150MPH @ 6000RPMs
The 2.0Liter cars with the same VQ engine have the same gearing as mentioned above --
And the tires were the stock size as the US version -- 205/65/15 -- I'm pretty certain that the speedometer was accurate too --
With that kind of gearing, the 3.0Liter engine would really kick some butt -- That gearing would be pretty close to what 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gears would be in a US spec 5 speed model --
I've always asked about this kind of gearing for the automatic -- and now I know for sure that it exists out there -- Just gotta find a way to get it here in the states...

Hey Don, do us a favor and show some of these SVT guys whats up.
http://www.svtperformance.com/ubb/Fo...ML/000084.html
THey think there is a diff of 40hp in stock maximas. And a guy who had a 14.9 sec t-bird spanked a max by 7 car lengths. Maybe its me but 7 car lengths is like he beat him by 3 seconds.
that max used a different engine it had 210 hp http://www.freshalloy.com/cars/nissa...n_engines.html
go there and look at the VQ and that has the cerfio( maxima) engine used in japan
