I need some help replacing a knock sensor

I just checked my ecu the other day and found that i have the code for KS. My gas mileage is horrible. I've been quoted anywhere from $350+ to replace it. I'm looking to replace the KS next month, but due to the fact that i can't get my hand in there to replace it i'm gonna need some help. If anyone lives near Longmont, Colorado and is willing to help me out or give me a few tips, I'd really appreciate it.

Sorry man, can't help you out in person, not anywhere near colorado...

However check out www.motorvate.ca, the guy has some pretty good instructions on how to do it yourself...I did is last summer and it took me about 2 hours and about $20 in tools (after buying the part and having it shipped from Courtesy nissan for about $165). Definetly saved a bundle in labor.

I had to remove the intake system from the throttle body out in order to get the room...that was actually the most time consuming part of it. I think i also removed the battery for some reason.

Good luck!

I just went to change mine this morning, whoa.
I was mentally prepared for a challenge but I figured my hands werent giant and I should be able to get in there. No way.
Are you guys actually able to get your hand in there to the point that you can touch the bolt with your fingers??

Would it be worth it to pick up the flexible 12mm socket and use that with a nice long extension like the skippy directions suggest?
Even using that to get it off, the directions still say to use your fingers to get a couple turns on the new one to get it started?
After a few attempts I'm discouraged.

Any suggestions?

yes, pick up those tools it'll be very helpful.

in fact you can get a brand new knock sensor for $90 shipped. go on ebay motor and search for "maxima knock sensor" and the result should pop out.

you can try to remove the intake manifold and then work from there, that's just an alternative route.

Hmm I've done three takes me now under 10minutes. But I can get my hand in there no cuts just minor scratches. If you can barely get your hand in there use the socket method and telescoping magnet. You can position the bolt as well with it I'm guessing. I honestly would say find someone who can get their hand in there if you can to remove/place the ks bolt. I didn't know it was that much I guess they take off the intake manifold to do it. Sheesh I got 20 bucks for changing one, free used but working ks for chaning the other, and the last was a free spicy chicken meal from wendy's.
