Lockout Tranny

Lockout Tranny

My Transmission Recently went out on my Maxima and every where I call to get a new one they need to know if my old one is a lockout or not how do i tell if my transmission is a lockout or not without having to take it out first? the car is a 95 SE auto if that helps .

maybe they are talking about LSD? If you can get this when you do your trany. (limited slip difirential )

yes that's what they're talking about but i went to nissan and gave the guy my vin number and it didn't show anything about locking or non locking so he told me it was non locking, but when I used to have nitrous on my car when I would flip the switch and stomp it both wheels would spin not one, and when I jack up the front and turn one wheel the other one spins in the oppositre direction. I thought if all of this happens then you have limited slip. I just want to know before I get the wrong transmission.

You have a non-lsd unit. If you're going to buy a new tranny, why not get the LSD one? You'll need a new driver's side axle, but it's worth it.

Hell, the new VLSD trannies are less expensive than the open-diff...so that offsets a bit of the axle cost.
