Y-pipe power & emissions?
Budget Performance in Burlington, Ontario, Canada mfg's & sells a Y-Pipe for the 4th Gen Maxima. I've heard nothing but great things regarding power increases, quality etc. My question is can the car pass emissions testing with this on? I believe it elimates the pre-cats in the factory pipe but they only work in cold engine running conditions, once the motor's up to normal operating temperature it's only the main cat that does the work. Is that true? Does anyone have this pipe where they have an annual emissions test? They also have a B-pipe with or without the resonator any thoughts on that? I'm guessing I can get a B-pipe done locally as I will be having the Y-pipe shipped. thanks

I'm told you just need to make sure the car is warm before the inspection, because the pre-cats are only active before the cat gets up to tempurature. Also, check out that group deal, It'll be cheaper than a budget and has a four year corrosion warranty (and I want to save the $15 by getting 30 people signed up )

It has passed emissions on my 97 and 95 with the Budget Y as well as b etc.
I would suggest you get their B-Pipe as well because it is T-304 Stainless and mandrel bent, that is not easy to get locally for what they are charging.
Also recommended to get the resonator but this is what I did, so I can have the choice of both.
This is for my new 2k2 but same for 4th Gen basically.
Pay the extra $30 get the T-304 Stainless Steel Budget Pipe, Wrapspeed charges $275 for the same thing.
