motor swaps

hey guys i have a question that may sound kinda stupid. I kno with some other nissan's and other forigen cars they have motors that are alot better then the ones the cars get when they are sold in america. like the 240 had many motors that in jdm form are turbo'd or something. i was just wondering if we have and jdm motors that would drop into our engine bay that would make us some hp?
thanks,
Will

i dont know much about it, but the answer is leaning towards no. people say you could do whatever you wanted with lots of money.

best bet would be a turbo kit or nitrous.

Yeah, it would cost thousands of dollars to put in another motor. If you were to Id put in an RB26 though... Your best bet would be to add boost...

It's always nice to be the first though...

i meant if there is a different motor in the jdm maximas. I kno that we could try to fit a different motor into our cars but i mean like if the cefrio has a different motor then our us spec maxima has? cause i think it would be cool to have a nice and neat motor swap that is like an easy 60 or so hp.
thats just wat i was wondering.
thanks,
will

No the cefiro has the same motor. From what I have read and seen pictures of on the internet.

Why don't you want to boost it? I mean, no I have not done it YET, but it would be a heck of a lot more efficient than a motor swap I would think... If you wanted to get 60 more horses out of a JDM motor, why not TC? That's what you get pretty much... I have priorities right now... Mainly school seeing is how I am only in 10th grade so I have to wait awhile before I can do that.

The nissan cedric has a VQ-30det (turbo). Stronger crank, rods and low compression pistons, so you can run more boost. You could take those internals and drop them into your engine. The engine itself would not fit because of it being rear wheel and us being front.

You might consider purchasing another 3.0liter VQ motor so you can take your time and build it up. I have seen complete motors on ebay for as cheap as $350 dollars + shipping. Atleast if you go this route you can build it right & still be able to roll your ride until your new fully built motor is ready to swap out. Just think if you could find a company that makes a stroker kit for the Max engine. More torque & power. You might even find more then just an extra 60hp if your lucky. Besides, when you smoke the other guy's who have turbo, superchargers or nitrous you have the pride of saying I all motor....

People who swap motors into their cars don't do it for the power increase over their stock motor. They do it because the motor they are swapping in has much more potential than their stock motor. That really doesn't apply to our cars because people are making 400 and 500 HP on our cars without much problem. Our motor doesn't really have the weak points that other stock motors like stock honda D series and the 240sx's KA motors do. Our motor is quite stout right from the factory.

I have heard of someone using a mid 90's twin-turbo 300zx engine, and converted their max to rear drive. I think the investment was +20k. That is too much money in my opinion. Your best bet would be to just buy a 300zx, and work on it.

Remember, our cars are front wheel drive. Elements such as torque steer, as well as other limitations of front wheel drive in a high horsepower application are just to real to ignore. Bolt ons for the maxima yield very respectable results in horsepower and handling. If you want a car that can beat anything else, buy the right platform to begin with: rear drive. Just my opinion.
