B&G Springs
Spring Question
I want to drop my Maxima before the summer, i have been researching and been to Drewm's site several times. I know as far as handling Eibach springs are the best and as far as comfort is H&R. What about B&G Springs? The drop that it gives is pretty nice. But how do they handle? Im looking for something of that sort of drop. I find Eibach 1.5F/1.3R a lil to high for me. Im just concerned about how the handling will be with the B&G. I plan on hitting the track once in a while so i take that into consideration. Thanks in advance for the Input.
I have them and like them.........they are just a tad stiffer then h&r but by far no eibach spring rate either. But since they are a progressive spring I suggest a nice set of shocks. I could tell a difference just on stock shocks..the springs are approx 30% sittfer then stock.
I have B&Gs on my car and love them. The drop is much better than my old H&R setup and they handle well. If you want a nice even drop than I would definately recommend them. Make sure to wrap them though as mine squeek occasionally because the top coils are rubbing against each other.
i have the B&G's
hey I recently (2 weeks ago) put a set of slightly used B&G's on my 99i30, using the stock struts until I can save for a new set. I love the drop but I cut an extra 2/3 of a coil off the fronts so that the front would actually be slightly lower than the back. I would recommend doing this because otherwise the front will be higher than the back, with a lot more gap. With the cut fronts it looks about even. The ride is great, just a little harsher than stock, but without as much swaying around on the freeway.

yah I know
I hear all of the stories but I guess I'll have to figure that out when it happens. How do you know when you blow a strut anyway? I've put a couple hundred miles since lowering and no probs so far...I just can't stand the look of the rear sag. On my '96 jetta I cut the stock springs and never had a problem in 3 years. By the way I have "17's and 50's and my ride is not much worse than stock for now. But you know I'm just going off of my own experiences(so far) and wouldn't mind others opinions just don't want to ***** up this thread......scotty

The problem with blown struts is half the time you dont know they're blown. The ride gets crappy over time where you dont even notice it. I have one blown on the rear left, its leaking fluid all over itself. The only way you'll know is when you put new struts on, you'll feel the difference.
Cutting springs is another story.... Your cutting a part of the spring that holds tension, now when the spring compresses theres less tension to hold it up so the strut has to do more work which eventually blow it. You've done it and had no problem but either you got lucky or you have really good roads. Any which way its a bad idea. As it is, on my daily commute I hit the bumpstops a few times a day, and thats with slowing down and trying to avoid potholes.
