on a 99' max does my a/t have a seperate comp or is it all in the one by the gas pedal? thanks

i believe the ATC is under the BCM on top of the ECM... Not sure though.

Do these things go bad? maybe cause irratic kick down and shifts?

yes but you should throw a code or something it might be the tranny itself.
