Z32 fuel filter in Max

Hello All,

I was reading the faqs and it was mentioned that putting th Z32 (300ZX) fuel filter in the max, and it twice as good as the one for max plus getting better gas milage.

Has anyone done this and expreienced the better gas millage?

Is there a down side to putting the Z's fuel filter in the max or is it all benefits.
If so then which year fuel filter, or any from the last generation of Z's they made?

thanks for the advice

I believe it's the Z32 TT filter, but it might be the N/A one. Somebody please verify.

The only advantage is a longer replacement schedule. These last 60k miles where a factory one lasts 30k. There are no real performance gains of any sort.

The downside is that it is a big filter, so it will NOT fit in the filter bracket.

i'm pretty sure it won't give you better gas mileage unless your current one is really clogged and bad. the only advantage i've heard is that it's twice as big and will last longer and that's why people go with them. i have one but have had it sitting here for a while waiting for the weather to get nice again. go to the fluid and lubricant forum and check out the threads on the faq's there. that'll tell you which one to get.

I was able to pop it right in. The bracket on a 95 is flexible enough to accomodate it.

thanks for all the good info, I will get the 300ZX fuel filter, and put it in, I bought my car used and they guy that had it before me was an ***, (cause the car was half dead, clutch going out, CV joint and more), so I'm sure the fuel filter could use changing.

thanks for the help.

If the Max filter is cheaper get the max filter. I have a 300zx filter in and it's nothing special. Only advantage it has is the bigger filtering surface area.

$1-$3 difference? Maybe at NAPA or AUtozone, it's a $10 difference at the dealer, for me at least. Trust me, I'll be using only 300zx filters anyway. But those that keep asking or not believing that the filter works or fits, just get he damn maxima filter simple as that.
