Ignition coil

Hi everyone.Im a newbie here.I have a 95 and it just gets basically used for a daily commuter. My wife and I bought it used with about 80,000 miles on it.Up until today it has been a great car.I get a call from her this morning saying that the engine is making an unusual noise. So after work I go check it out.I do a good look over to see if maybe a belt is slapping around ready to bust etc..I found nothing.I fire it up and right away I knew that one of the spark plugs was out.I pull off the front spark plug cover and see a small pool of oil and whats left of the ignition coil stem,(spring, rubber pieces etc..).The coil was still attatched but I'm thinking what the hell?So I unscrew the coil and pull it out only to find the spark plug just sitting out cocked to the side.I pulled out the plug and noticed that there was no longer an electrode gap.It was completely together.I'm hoping this happened because the plug was bouncing around.Since I've had the car I havent changed the plugs yet.I'm assuming that the buffoon that installed the plug didnt tighten it enough and that it worked its way out causing exhaust gases to burn up the coil stem. What a bummer!
Does anyone know what I'm in for cost wise? This part looks pretty spendy.

yeah, check in the group deals section for JRNissan's discount and get it from there. I would go with the Mitsubishi coils, not the Hanshin ones. You could probably just get some all new plugs from them too. Just get the NGK coppers. They conduct better than the platinums, and they are a lot cheaper.

BTW, you are supposed to change spark plugs out every 30k miles.

Thanks for the info Brudaddy. My next question is what is the easiest way to access the firewall side.I'm going to be adjusting the valves and changing ALL the plugs in the near future. Its only been 18000 miles since the guy before me changed them BTW.However what I've found today makes me want to do them sooner.

I don't know that. I am about to have to do that with the coils myself in the next few weeks, Ventura.

Given this other guy's track record, I would do everything as soon as possible, before you kill your engine with something else stupid that he didn't do right.
