stalling? wtf?

stalling? wtf?
does any 1 kno why.. my car is stalling.. sometimes when im in reverse then shift to drive it stalls... i thought at first i was shifting to soon.. but then i was driving up my driveway and i stalled... what can cause this.. its so annoying..... 1997 white se max auto.. plz help
