changing injectors

I have a ticking sound coming from my engine. I have narrowed it down to the injectors. I used the listen with a long screw driver method to rule out other possibilities. Of the 5 injectors I was able to check through this metod (the rear center injector being inaccessible), the rear right injector sounds considerably different than the other four and has a faint ticking sound. I suspect the rear center injector to be the main culprit however. Since I have to remove the upper manifold to remove any of the rear injectors, I was going to change all three.

My question to anybody who has had to change their injectors is, are there any other parts I need besides the injectors, such as o-rings or a new upper manifold gasket?

Any help is much appreciated.

Ruben

you dont need to replace the gasket as long as it is in good condition. The same goes for the o rings. But you make sure that the injectors are faulty before you go through all that work for nothing. Is the engine misfiring that is always a good indicator of a bad injector. The ticking of the injectors are normal if I were you I would first get them cleaned. Try using lucas fuel treatment or go to nissan if you got the dogh it will cost over $100.

No, no misfire. The car runs fine other than the anoying ticking. My friend said he could hear my car from inside his house.

The loud ticking is perfectly normal. Now if you had a misfire problem and the coil pack and spark plugs were fine then I might suspect an injector problem. I would not go replacing injectors for no reason. I would be worried if they were not ticking.

+1 on that comment its a lot of time and money to waste just to change perfectly good injectors.

Do you think it's possibly an exhaust manifold gasket leaking? I know that it usually sounds like a tick tick tick when those leak...

I don't think it's the exhaust manifold but it won't hurt to check

If one of your injectors is ticking at a slow pace or slower than others chances are it's clogged up or bad. If you replace it make sure to get a new gasket(1996 people).
