The black glue holds it in, what you need to do is to apply presure and it will pop out. In no way pry out the tails because they may crack.
Gotta be careful baceuse that glue is strong, I cracked my 2 inners pieces just from pressuring it from behind

I just got mine out a couple days ago, after the 4 screws you just really need to force them out, they are stuck in there by some glue substance, just keep pushing it out from the inside and eventually they will give. Felt like I was going to rip the trunk off while I was forcing the lights on the trunk out.

I put on about 4-5 medium/thin coats. I just went until everything matched up well with the stock red. It matched well enough that I didn't even need to paint the brake lights. Here's a pic:

Sorry about the shadow on the one side, that tail matches just as well as the passenger side.

I'm thinking about doing the tint thing at some point. How do you get the tails back on? Do you need to get whatever that glue is, or can you reuse what's on there somehow?

well i ****ed em up. i got the final coat on, then remembered that i didnt clean one of the housings, so that one looked like ****. then by the very end i ran out of tint so one of the other housings didnt come out nice and shiny, instead its all smudged and distorted. finally on the third housing, i accidently touched it while it was drying and got some finger prints on it so had to remove that part too. finally because of the lack of paint, one side of the car is darker than the other. so now i gotta wait another week to get the new can in the mail cus it costs $20 ****ing bucks for 3 day shipping on a $2 can of paint. as you can tell im in a great mood.

remember man, 95/96 owners cant just "clear" em out. if only it were that easy. the amber pieces are part of the tail light. we have to buy the complete assembly already made red/clear. and you know how much of a pain that is to get one... so the next best thing is to red out the amber and/or smoke it.
