I understood what you were talking about with the shifting of the gears.
IMO: auto with muffler=gross

I just think it doesn't sound good. You still get the loudness when the car is shifting, so it never really lets off. Just doesn't sound right to me.

It wouldnt sound different, just no occasional backfire because the gas is still being pressed, unlike manual. I have y-,cat-back, and it sounds normal, even the shift, jsut a slight break in tone when shifted

It doesn't sound good. I don't know what normal sounds like? It just doesn't sound good when you never hear much of a slack in that sound of the exaggerated muffler. That is just what you get with an auto though...

I have a Rice Cannon muffler on my 97 GLE... Yes... Flame me... Then again, I still couldn't tell you how it sounds because I also have a Manifold Back Exhaust system. I'm also resinatorless so I get all that grit that everyone hates.

The car is loud in the low RPM band. It has a really nice deep tone. As the RPMs raise, the muffler pitch increases, naturally. If I let off the gas and let the car drive at a stable speed, I get practically no noise at all. It's only when the gas is pressed.

The fun part of the whole deal is letting off the gas at high RPMs. You'll get that "Rally Car" popping sound.

Anyway, an Automatic Maxima can sound however you want it. If you want Rice, you can get it. If you want low and Muscle, you can get that too. My car does both. Muscle at the low end, Rice at the top.

Now... I know this is a bad post for a newbie. I've lurked this board for some time now. I'm aware that most people here hate my exhaust set up. Regardless, I like it. My car is no pretender though. I'm not afraid to embrace certain elements of the "rice world", but at the same time, I know when to draw the line.

Blah blah blah. I'm a member of Three forums and yes... I ramble uncontrolably on all of them!

I guess I'll go cover myself in asbestos now and wait for the flames .

I'm also resinatorless so I get all that grit that everyone hates.<---your car throws grit? hmmmm

The car is loud in the low RPM band. It has a really nice, I mean rice, deep tone. As the RPMs raise, the muffler pitch(or gayness) increases, naturally. If I let off the gas and let the car drive at a stable speed, I get practically no noise at all(because it dies....I spend all my money on rice and not on maintenance to make my car run good). It's only when the gas is pressed.

The fun part of the whole deal is letting off the gas at high RPMs. You'll get that "Rally Car" popping and backfiring sound.

Anyway, an Automatic Maxima can sound however you want it. If you want Rice like me, you can get it by pm'ing me and asking. If you want low and Muscle, you can get that too. My car does both. Muscle at the low end, Rice at the top.

Heh heh... I knew it was coming .... Thanks.

Again, I'm not a "ricer". I just like the way my exhaust sounds. Everyone has their sound opinion. This is mine. I will NEVER put an aluminum wing on my car, I don't Vinyl, I don't worship The Fast and The Furious..... I'm really into subtle styling. Oh well... We all have our "faults".

you gays are silly. Autos sound fine with an exhaust, but which sounds better during a shift is all an opinion.
